The upcoming Coventry Business Excellence Awards will bring together all members of Coventry’s regional business community including companies from all sectors and of all sizes.

This includes Coventry’s most thriving small and medium businesses (SMEs) who will be celebrated via the ‘SME Business of the Year’. This award will be presented to a company who has no more than 75 members of staff but has demonstrated a proven track record of success in equal measure.

Leading print company Stirland Paterson have now been announced as sponsors of the category and will be responsible for choosing three finalists and a winner.

Simon Stirland is Group Sales Director at Stirland Paterson and explained why they made the decision to come on board as category sponsors.

“I really enjoy the opportunity to see what other businesses in our region are achieving and it gives me a real sense of pride in what Coventry has to offer and a desire to celebrate and recognise our region’s successes” he said.

“In addition to success, achievements and profitability we are looking to see what business plans the entrants have for the future. We are interested in what they are doing for all stakeholders of their business and also to see what they have done to either protect themselves from unforeseen market forces or learn from mistakes that they have made.”

Businesses and individuals from across Coventry will be in attendance at the ceremony which will take place on Thursday 19 September at the Ricoh Arena. The evening will be an opportunity for likeminded businesses to network, share anecdotes from their career in business and provide advice to anyone that wants it including what it takes to be a success in business. .  “I wold say it is essential to have good communication skills – be that listening or talking with staff and customers,” Simon commented on the topic.

“It is also important to keep an open mind and be prepared to continually monitor and review business performance and undertake continuous improvement work. To stand still is not an option if you want to survive long term.”

The night will be hosted by comedian Mark Dolan and television presenter Lucy Nicholls with entertainment on the night coming in the form of The Voice finalists Belle Voci.
